MARIT UNSANCTIONED

CLIENT | AUTHOR L. RYAN STORMS
CLIENT LOCATION | Pennsylvania, US
PROJECT | Client required original cover art for her novel "Marit Unsanctioned".  Artwork is created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

THE CONCEPT

The artwork needed to feature a magical vial in prominance and as the primary focal point for the cover. The story also includes mention of steppe farming which takes place under the light of the moon. Lightning also plays a part in the tale. All set the stage for a nighttime scene on the cover, allowing for the glow of the vial and the magical potion within to light the surrounding elements. Completing the composition are a selection of jinsom weed, white, blue and teal flowers and leaves. The warm golden hue of the cork and the gold of the metal that wrap the vial lend color and contrast and further draw the eye.

TEAL STEALS THE SHOW

The color palette leans heavily on this stunning mix of blue and green. From the magical and ethereal glow of the liquid in the vial focal element to the softer hues of the trees and steppes in the distance, to the variations in the surrounding leaves and blooms, teal really packs a punch in this creative cover design.

PRAISE FROM THE CLIENT

"AK Westerman has been a delight to work with. Exceptionally diligent in creating exactly what I was looking for, she checked in with me each step of the way to make sure she was on the right track, and she was agreeable to changes that needed to be made to more closely match the vision I, as the author, had for my cover art. I highly recommend working with her. While her skill and talent are plain to see, her professionalism is exceptional and cannot be overlooked. The way she handles her business, the contracts and payment schedules she adheres to, and the optimistic attitude she displays are a winning combination. I look forward to working with her again in the future, have already recommended her services to other authors, and will continue to do so. Working with her was a stress-free experience and the end product was a phenomenal piece of cover art I'm thrilled to feature on my book." - L. Ryan Storms
